Question:
I have a partial set of Red Wing Lotus Bronze dinnerware. A family member purchased it "as is" at an estate sale in the late 1980′s or early 1990′s. All place setting pieces are stamped with the authentic RED WING HANDPAINTED USA logo, and include various numbers. I have included the numbers in case they help identify time frame, etc. There are:
9 dinner plates, 8 in perfect condition, 1 badly cracked, #’s 195,194,175;
7 dessert/bread & butter plates, 6 perfect condition, 1 with small chip, #’s 165,1104;
7 saucers, 6 perfect, 1 chipped, #’s 195, 114, 113?,1114;
7 berry bowls, 3 perfect,3 with small chips, 1 with small crack, #’s 145,195,1114;
8 teacups, 7 perfect, 1 with weak spot, bronze bottoms with no visible marks;
8 coffee cups, 7 perfect, 1 chipped, no marks on bottom;
1 pair salt/pepper, perfect condition, no visible marks;
1 creamer, perfect condition, no marks;
1 casserole, dish and lid in perfect condition, no visible marks;
1 sugar bowl with lid, dish has repaired handle, lid handle broken, no visible marks.
I would like to know the price of each individual piece, and also of the set collectively. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Answer: The prices below are for pieces in excellent, undamaged condtion. Damaged pieces are worth no more than half the value of an undamaged piece and often less. The three digit numbers on the pieces bottom marked with an ink stamp are stock numbers, which are batch or lot codes. They have no effect on value.
Dinner plate $15
Bread & butter plate $7.50-10
Small bowl (sauce) $7.50-10
Teacup (shallow sides) $7.50-10
