Question:
I have some dinnerware, turquoise plates with brown on the edge. Casserole dish, brown on the outside, turquoise on the inside, mugs, cups, teapot, small and large plates. I don’t need to know the exact value as I am just trying to figure out if they are Red Wing. I believe my aunt, who lived in Red Wing, may have given them to my grandmother in the 1940′s or 1950′s. Everything is packed so I don’t have a picture. If you can confirm that Red Wing made dinnerware in this color I will photograph at a later date. Thanks so much!
Answer: Sorry, but I can neither confirm nor deny that your dishes are Red Wing. Red Wing made two patterns in brown and green colors. Bakeware, better known as Oomph, was made in the 1940s. Village Green was introduced in 1951 and produced until the Potteries closed in 1967. However, several other potteries made dinnerware with similar shapes and similar colors. A photo is necessary to make a positive identification.
