Question:
I have an old piece of red wing pottery. It’s an egg platter. Paisley shaped with a crackle finish. (Salt?) It measures 16 inch long X 7.5 inches wide. The pattern is pear, plum, grapes. The color over all is ivory with gray, gold and purple in the handpainting design. I would like to get more info on this piece and it’s value. I havae had it all my life and it originally was my mothers. (60+ years old) Thanks for any help and info. Pam

Answer:
You have an egg plate from the Capistrano dinnerware pattern, one of six patterns in Red Wing’s Anniversary shape. Capistrano was introduced in 1953, the 75th anniversary of the Red Wing potteries. The pattern sold well and was made into the early 1960s. A Capistrano egg plate in excellent condition is worth $40 to $50.
