Question:
I was given 4 place settings of dishes – Capistrano pattern – only going to keep one set to display – what is the value of a place setting – dishes are in very good condition.

10 3/4" plate
7 3/4" plate
6 1/2" plate
saucer
cup
cereal bowl [that is what the antique dealer marked it] [dealer had $12 marked on it - tag is still on a couple of the bowls]
– also included a pic of the back of one of the items – there is a number on each of them but do not believe they are all the same
I am trying to figure out a value on them – they are excellent condition – was given 4 place settings and wish to sell 3 of them. The dealer that my daughter bought them from didn’t want to sell just one – which I understand. Just trying to find a value to sell them so I know what I can try to sell them for – once I find a place to sell them.

Thank you Judie

Answer:
The value for the place setting you’ve described (three plates, cereal bowl, cup & saucer) would be around $40-50 if all pieces are in excellent condition. This estimate is what an interested collector would likely pay, not necessarily what an antique dealer will offer to buy it.
