Question:
At my parents cabin is a set of colorful Redwing dishes that we had thought were FiestaWare. Upon careful examination, we noticed some are imprinted Redwing and dated 1936. The dishes have are in cobalt blue, turquiose, yellow, and orange. There are about 6 plates, suacers, teacups, B&B plates as well as creamer and sugar. Is there any value to these or shall I donate them to a Goodwill Center?

Answer:
Without a photo or a far more detailed description I really can’t determine what you have here. The Gypsy Trail line included four distinct patterns (Plain, Reed, Chevron, Fondoso) as well as numerous Hostess Ware pieces that didn’t belong to a particular pattern. A rough estimate of the value would be around $50-75, assuming there are 6 plates (what size?), 6 cups & saucers, 6 B&B plates plus a creamer & sugar. But it could well be higher or lower depending on condition of the pieces, the pattern, the colors of the individual pieces, whether the teacups are standard size or AD (demitasse), etc.

The dated piece or pieces would have additional value as they are quite uncommon. I’ve not seen a date earlier than 1939, so if the date on yours is indeed 1936 collectors would be very interested.
