Question:
My parents have a set of Orleans dishes. The set is virtually unused. The pieces are: Service for eight (dinner, salad, fruit bowl/small sauce dish, cup and saucer); Sugar Bowl w/lid; Creamer, Pitcher, Casserole with handle and lid, 12\" round platter, 2 serving bowls, Teapot w/lid; salt and pepper shakers. We are intersted in the value and how one might go about finding a buyer. Thank you.

Answer: Approximate values for the pieces you’ve listed:
Dinner plate: $15-30
Salad plate: $10-15
Sauce dish: $10-15
Cup & saucer: $20-25
Sugar w/cover: $25-30
Creamer: $20-25
Water pitcher: $50-75
Casserole w/cover: $40-60
Platter 12": $25-40
Teapot w/cover: $70-90
S & P shakers: $15-25

All values assume excellent condition. Chips, cracks, stains, etc reduce the value considerably, usually by half or more. Orleans pieces tend to stain easily; if your set is exceptionally clean and "like new" the values will be on the upper end of the price range.

We are happy to help identify Red Wing items as well as provide information and current values, but cannot advise people on how to sell items. The best method for you depends on several factors including your location, effort you are willing to expend, desired speed of the sale, and your expectations for the prices you get for your items. Antique dealers, auctioneers, consignment sales, online auctions and classified ads in antique or local publications are all possible venues.
