Question:
Please give me any information you can on these Red Wing items. They are in perfect condition. No nicks, cracks, or anything. They look brand new. I know they are Red Wing because they have the name Red Wing USA on the bottom. Thanks Picture is attached

Answer: You have a Smart Set beverage server and teapot. The Smart Set pattern was introduced in 1953 and was made until 1957 or 1958. It is a pattern in Red Wing’s Casual shape. Smart Set sold very well for several years, but the introduction of the extremely popular Bob White pattern (made in the same Casual shape) caused Smart Set to be dropped relatively quickly.

The stopper and cover of your beverage server and teapot are solid black in color, which provides contrast to the base pieces. "Patterned" stoppers and covers with the same Smart Set artwork as the base pieces were also made. Values for the two versions seem to be about the same.

In excellent condition, a Smart Set beverage server with stopper is worth $75-$100 and the teapot with cover $100-$125. Wrought iron warming stands were available for both of these items; in excellent condition they would increase the listed value by at least half.
