Question:
I have a Red Wing Capistrano Teapot with lid and coffee pot with lid. I would like to know an estimated value. Thanks
Answer: Capistrano teapots and beverage servers (coffee pot) are not hard to find, but finding them in excellent condition can be difficult. The spout protrudes out from the body, and when bumped the end of the spout easily chips or flakes. The thin looping handle and the protruding points on the cover are also fragile areas. Most examples I’ve seen over the years have at least one flaw and most often it’s at the end of the spout.
A Capistrano teapot in excellent condition (no chips, flakes or cracks and with a fully intact cover) would be worth in the range of $75 to $100. A Capistrano beverage server in excellent condition would be worth about the same, maybe just a little less. Any damage reduces the value by half or more.
