Question:
I have a large brown pitcher with light green inside. Its about 10" tall, stamped on the bottom Red Wing USA. This was my Mother’s, can you tell me any thing about it. Thanks Rich

Answer:

Village Green is the name of the pattern. It was introduced by Red Wing in 1951 and continued in production until the pottery closed in 1967. Village Green was one of the top selling patterns for Red Wing, probably second only to Bob White. Two sizes of pitcher were made in the Village Green pattern; yours in the larger of the two. The earliest brochures call this pitcher a "Water Jug 2 1/2 quart". A 1957 brochure refers to it as a "Water Jug 80oz". In 1961 it is simply called a "Large Water Pitcher" and by 1964 it’s a "Pitcher 10 cup". Any of these names would apply to your pitcher.

The Village Green remains popular with collectors today. Your pitcher is a fairly common but desirable piece. In excellent condition it would be worth in the range of $30 to $50.
