Question:
Good morning and thanks for this great service. I have a piece of Red Wing pottery marked # 848 on the bottom. It is a pedestal bowl, oval in shape ,8X10 inches by 4 3/4"in height. The interior of the bowl is a rich shiny gold color the exterior starts with a matte finish dark brown band approx.1 7/8" in width and slightly concave and then changes to a shiny gray brown embossed stripe to form the bottom of the bowl the pedestal finishes the bowl and is in a solid semi shiny gray brown matching the embossed stripe. The base is approx. 4 3/4" in diameter. the bottom of the base is marked Red Wing USA 848. As to condition there is a factory flaw on the stripe section which is a slight fading of the stripe in two places. On the bottom of the base there is a 3/16 x 1/4" very shallow defect not visible unless the bowl is turned over I hate to call this defect a chip as it does not seem deep enough but it’s there and I thought I should mention it. All in all a very nice piece very easy to look at. If you should require more photos let me know and I would be happy to send them
