I just purchased a 11in giraffe planter in mint condition. It reads redwing usa #896 I think it is very hard to read. It also was scratched into before it was glazed JM 4/79. I am very intrested to find out some info on the planter and a value. thank you paul

Answer: Paul, this is a "hobby shop" mold, done after Red Wing had closed. The mold is the same as the original, just done by someone else. Hence the initials and date. Value would be minimal, since it’s not made by Red Wing. thanks, steve n rose
