Question:
Greetings. I have a piece of Red Wing pottery that I have been curious about. I would call it (though I am no expert) "Deco Style". It is a pitcher, about 6" high, 9" wide. The body of the pitcher is "flying saucer" shaped with a double handle. The glaze appears to be somewhere between a matte and gloss finish. The color is black, or dark gray, somewhat like a gun barrel gray. It is marked on the bottom "Red Wing USA" along with the numbers 1580. They are all in a raised lettering. It is in mint condition with no cracks or chips. I have attached a picture. I thank you for your help and knowledge. Sincerely, Nancy Witham

Answer: Hi Nancy, it is an interesting shape, I would agree, somewhat deco-ish. It was designed in 1958, so it’s more of an atomic age design. Black is the glaze color. It has a value of around 50.00. thanks for the pic and good description. steve n rose
