Red Wing Vase 930

Question:

We have a  Lotus vase in blue with pink inside and cannot find any info on the value of this.  Can you help?  Is the blue a rear color?

Answer:

You have a Red Wing Vase 930 and it came in a number of colors. According to the Red Wing Art Pottery Two book by Ray Reiss the price guide says the value for a burgundy/ white combo is 60-80. I know that that particular glaze combo can be more valuable that the color combo you have to a collector; so, the value for yours may be closer to 60-80.

Duck Ashtray and Frog Planter

Question:

Hi,

Was wondering if you had any information on these two red wing items in the attached picture.
I can’t seem to find any info on the internet. If you could tell me about them and what an estimated value would be would be great.

Thanks, Chad

Answer:

The yellow duck-shaped item is an individual ashtray from Red Wing’s Gypsy Trail dinnerware line. The catalogs listed these as Duck Ashtrays and showed them as available in the standard Gypsy Trail colors (blue, orange, yellow, turquoise and white).   They were made from about 1937 to 1942.

Value fora Duck Ashtray in excellent condition is $40 to $60.  Some are marked RED WING, others are not marked.  The value for a marked ashtray would on the higher end of the range. Larry

the frog is a planter, #992,worth around 60.00 or so.  thanks, steve n rose

Pink Ball Vase

Question:

Hi there, My mother-in-law recently gave me this pink vase that was passed down from a grandparent. Here are a few pictures of it. Thanks so much for any information you can provide, Danielle

Answer: I can’t find the shape number, but from the glaze I would say 1950 ish, a simple form, maybe worth around 25.00 or so.  thanks, steve n rose

Rumrill “Anthenian” shape 571

Question:

Emailing you per the instructions on your website for “Ask the Experts” though I realize you have an annual convention and might be crazy busy at this time.  But if you have the time to respond, that would be great.

Attached find my RumRill “Anthenian” art deco vase.  It is 8.5 inches high and marked 571 on the bottom along with the words RumRill.  It’s in great shape – I received it from my grandmother.  I would appreciate an estimate on its value.

Thank you so very much!
Cindy

Answer: Hi Cindy
yes, rumrill, made by Red Wing, late 1930′s.  value has declined on the nudes a bit, but still a nice item.  Value around maybe 350.00 or so.  thanks, steve n rose

Thunderbird Motel Vases

Question:

I have 2 vases from the Thunderbird Motel built in 1962 in Bloomington, MN.  I was told these were made at the Red Wing Pottery.  Can you verify that?  If they are RW, what would the value be?  Pictures attached.  It is a dull glaze.  Good  condition.  No chips.

Thanks for your help.

Kathy

Answer: Kathy
yes, these are a Red Wing item.  I really don’t have a good price estimate for them, I think they are fairly rare.  thanks, steve n rose
