Is this spongeware salt n pepper combo RW? It is marked on the bottom but I just can’t make it out. If so, how rare and value. Thank you for your time. Your site is great for reference and history info. Margaret
Answer: Margaret, This item is not Red Wing. It is certainly a nice old salt and pepper set. A 2005 stoneware book edited by Kyle Husfloen places the value at $150. I think the value is a bit high—they are not all that rare. I have purchased some in past years for $50 to $60.I have a few of these in my collection, but cannot make out what the writing is on the bottom either. Jeff
