Question:
1 gal. is in excellent shape with a bottom edge chip 1 x 1/2 inch, shallow depth. 2 gal. is in nice condition ,top inner edge chip 2 x 1/2 inches. Age / value ? Gerald

Answer: Gerald, from collectors views, a stoneware piece is not considered excellent or in mint condition if there are any chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. So many times I see pieces listed on eBay stated in perfect condition "except" for the small line in the back. When collectors hear this, they usually will not even bid on the piece because there may be other flaws not mentioned. So always be careful when describing a piece. Now for value and age. The one gallon you have was produced between 1909 & 1915, value with the chip $300 to $325. Very nice looking piece! Your 2 gallon was produced between 1912 & 1915. With the chip $40 to $50. Hope this helps. Al Kohlman
