Question:
Hi Al, Not sure if my 1st question made it through or not (didn’t like the .BMP pic i sent.) Any how, I was wondering how much does what I consider to be a manufacturing flaw affect the value of an item? The pic attached is what appears to be a .75" – 1" deep hole in the bottom edge of a #1, large winged only crock. Also, rough time frame of when these were produced. Rough estimate would be nice too. No hairline cracks or any interior issues from the hole. Thanks For Your Time, Darrell
Answer: Darrell, a manufacturing flaw, does little to affect the value of a piece unless it takes away from the appearance. Looking at your 1 gallon Red Wing Crock, the value loss would be less that $25. Your 1 gallon crock was manufactured sometime between 1906 & 1930. Value would be around $400. Al Kohlman
