Question:
I have a 15G and a 3G the ovals are not shown on your website, in a picture together. The Name in the oval is “RED WING POTTERIES INC:” “RED WING MINN” The brown top crock is missing the Red wing emblem, no markings on the bottoms. The other two crocks shown together the Oval “Union stone ware co” The crock with the large wings or the standard oval. The crock to the right with broken cover inside, appears to be used in the 1930’s I would like to sell them to any one who will care for them. Can you help identify and advise me of what they may be worth. Cuzz I am a city slicker who has bailed hay, Mark Schmidt
Answer: Mark, your 15 gallon Red Wing crock was manufactured close to 1930. Value in mint condition is between $125 & $150 on this piece. Your other 3 pieces are called ball lock jars (or Applesauce jars to collectors). Your 3 gallon with the 4 inch wing looks to be the best one you have. This is because of the size of the red wing and it has all the hard ware. In mint condition it has a value around $300. The brown top Red Wing applesauce jar looks to be missing the hardware for the top and is missing the oval. Value on it would be around $175. The last applesauce jar is missing the lid and hardware and has the small red wing. Value on it would be round $75. These applesauce jars were manufactured starting in the early 1920′s and continued into the 1930′s. Hope this helps you out. Al Kohlman
