Question:
Is this 5 gallon jug a Red Wing? If so, what is the design called and what type of value might it have? Condition is excellent with no cracks. There are two small chips on the rim, a chip near the middle that looks like it was cut out of the clay before firing, a couple of dark brown splatters. It also has an "A" incised near the bottom on one side. It measures 20" tall. I have more pictures but could only add one. Thanks so much!

Answer: Your 5 gallon jug is more of an ovoid jug than the typical beehive jug. It is not Red Wing and looks more like an Ohio jug. I have not seen that flower before and therefore do not know the name of it or the decoration it represents. Still a nice looking jug. Not being Red Wing, I really have no idea of it’s true value.
