Hi, We just picked up a two gallon Red Wing crock at our local thrift store. It perfectly matches images online, so we’re pretty sure it’s the real thing. The red wing is pretty big, and the "2" and the Union Stoneware Co. logo is below the wing. It looks pretty much exactly like this except that the number is straighter http://www.rogersarkansas.com/museum/donation/redwingcrock.htm My real question is whether or not the glaze is safe — could we use this to make fermented foods? Answer: Jennifer, after looking at the link, if your 2 gallon Red Wing crock looks like that one, it is the real deal. The glaze is safe to make fermented foods as this is what these crocks were manufactured to do. No lead in the glaze. These crocks are idea for pickling & canning. I use them myself for pickling fish. Al Kohlman
