Question:
I have a jug, salt glaze,15.5"Hx11.0"in diameter at the base. The shape starts at the base, then has a slight inward curve, then widens out to a ball or dome shape. The opening in 2and3/16"O.D.x1"H,and has a handle. It has a fancy blue"4"with a lying down figure"8"/three dashes in each loop of the "8",then a vertical line from the"8"to a sears of five circles inside each other that get smaller. It looks like a brown glaze inside, and it looks like, when it was made, someone spilled some brown glaze on it(four drops). The only damage is four chips around the lip,the largest being 3/4"long.Is this Redwing? Thank you for your time,Anthony-John

Answer: Anthony, it sounds like you have a Red Wing 4 gallon salt glaze beehive with double rib cage. However to be sure, I would like to see a photo of your piece including the damage. In mint condition, this jug has a value between $2000 & $3000. So I don’t want to put your hopes up to high without knowing for sure what you have. So send me a photo. Thanks Al Kohlman
