Question:
My husband picked this up for $5.00 at a Church Sale. Can you tell us what it is worth? It says Minnesota Stoneware Co. Red Wing on the bottom, it stands 9.5 inches tall and 10 inches across, it is a chocolate brown on the inside and tan colored on the outside. It has a red blotch "wing?" on the back. It has one chip on the rim, a foundry flaw on the rim and the crack in the picture doesn’t go all the way through, just through the glazing. Thanks for your help. Julie
Answer: Julie, you have a Minnesota Stoneware Company 2 gallon salt glaze crock which is bottom signed. Not it would not have a red wing on it, but some other decoration. These crocks came with target marks, lazy eights, drop eights, single P’s double P’s etc. With all this being said, I would like to see a photo of the decoration and damage to give you a better idea of value.
