Question:
We have a #50 red wing crock pot 34 inches tall x apx.24 inches across top. With a brass valve at bottom, and a steel band below valve. We can’t find this pot size anywhere much less a value of this piece, please help us price this piece, Tony Lypp

Answer: Tony, a 50 gallon Red Wing crock with a spigot on the bottom is normal. The spigot was used to help drain the crock. However, the band on the bottom below the spigot does not make sense and should not be there. Many people placed bands on these large crocks because they were cracked and they want to hold them together. Therefore, I would look to see if your 50 gallon Red Wing crock is cracked. If cracked it will greatly reduce it value. A Mint 50 gallon Red Wing crock (no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs) can fetch as much as $2000 to $2400. Al Kohlman
