Question:
I purchased a 5 gallon jug at an antique shop for $30. It only has 5 on the front and it is marked on the bottom with RWSCo. It has a hairline crack and a couple of small chips on the bottom. I can’t find one in my books. Could you tell me the value. Is this rare? See attached photo.

Answer: Your jug is rarer than the common shoulder jug, but not impossible to find. These jugs (both shoulder and beehive) do not have much of a value as it is the decoration that the collectors are looking for. With the hairline crack and chips, I would say that $30 is in the area of it’s correct value. Al Kohlman
