Question:
I have a six inch bread/butter dish of the Red Wing purple iris and on the back it has a number underneath the red wing handpainted marking. Does this make it more valuable? Thanks – Alice

Answer: No, the number does not increase the value of this plate. It is simply a stock or lot number used during the production process. Some collectors may seek a certain stock number to match the other pieces in their collection, but most collectors pay no attention to the number.
