Question:
Hi, I have some oval dinner plates that I believe are Red Wing Hotel / Restaurant platter plates that are in excellent condition. Can you please let me know if that is what they are and what their value may be? Thank you so much for your time, Laura

Answer: Your platters are indeed from the Hotel or Restaurant line. This shape with the ribbed trim was known as Empire. It was made for the restaurant trade in the mid-1960s. Values for this line are rather low for standard white or beige fleck pieces. For an extra charge Red Wing would apply blue, green, maroon or yellow trim around the rims. Value for one of these platters would be $10-20 in excellent condition.
