Question:
I have a bowl and need to know the age, value, etc, if anyone could help. It says on the bottom, RED WING with the line of the R going to the right under the red wing and had a curleeque curling bsack to the left under the line. Under that it has USA. that is all. The bowl is large, 11 1/2" across, 3 1/4" deep, the opening is about 9 1/4.the sides flair out to the 11 1/2" then back to the opening of the 9 1/4. The bottom outside is brown up to the widest part of the flair and then an unusual green, almost teal from there up to the top and down inside the entire bowl.Maybe it is a knock off to the REDWING? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.I don’t have any way to get a picture on the site.

Answer:
I believe you have a Bakeware salad bowl. Bakeware is the proper name for the pattern most people call "Oomph". The cover of a Bakeware brochure features the slogan "Red Wing puts the OOMPH into earthenware" and since OOMPH was the most prominent word on the cover people tended to remember it. Bakeware was introduced in 1943 and was made until sometime in the mid to late 1940s. Value for a Bakeware salad bowl in excellent condition would be $30 to $60.
