Were barrel cookie jars ever decalled with orange mushrooms? Thanks
Answer:
No. Red Wing Potteries did not affix decals to stoneware or dinnerware items, to the best of my knowledge. Some stoneware kitchen items were cold painted over the glaze at the factory during the 1940s. This paint wears off and is readily removed. Owners of cookie jars frequently added their own painted or decal decorations, and most likely that is the source of the orange mushrooms.
