Question:
I have just purchased a little cup I believe that it is the damask pattern it is 2 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches tall it has the letters CHA and 1966 and some kind of pattern in the middle. It does have a hairline through the handle. I am wondering if it was made by redwing and what was it made for and a value? thank you paul

Answer:
You have an A.D. (after dinner or demitasse) cup in the Like China shape. It was definitely made by Red Wing Potteries. The colors are borrowed from the Damask pattern but this cup is not a Damask piece. It was a custom order item, most likely for a conference or reunion held in 1966. "CHA" is likely an acronym of the organization/s name and the pattern in the center is probably the organization’s logo, but I know nothing about the group.

These little cups are uncommon but not rare. In excellent condition it would be worth in the range of $30-40. The hairline will reduce the value by 25-50%.
