Question:
This is something passed down, my being told "be careful, its Redwing. The metallic brown set consists of 12 large plates, 15 medium plates, 15 small plates, 11 saucers, 10 cups, 4 bowls, 7 relish and 5 serving dishes of various size. What is their value? Thank you Leslie
Answer: Leslie, Your metallic brown dishes are from the Town & Country dinnerware pattern and do indeed have some value. This pattern was created by the well-known designer Eva Zeisel. Town & Country was her only collaboration with Red Wing, and today the pattern is sought by both Red Wing and Zeisel collectors. Town & Country was introduced January 1947 and produced until 1956. It was available in several colors, but metallic brown seems to be the most highly sought color these days. If all of your pieces are in excellent condition the value would be in the range of $400 to $600, perhaps a bit more depending on the size and condition of what appear in the photo to be large bowls.
