Question:
Last week I purchased a coffee pot and matching teapot at a local yard sale. They were sold as Red Wing, but there is not a Red Wing label or Red Wing mark on the bottom. I did find a similiar shaped coffee pot on Ebay. What do I have? Thanks. Dave

Answer:
Dave, the piece in the attached photo is a beverage server with cover from the Quartette pattern. It is indeed a Red Wing piece, as would be the matching teapot.

Red Wing introduced Quartette in 1951 and it was made until 1956. Quartette is one of many patterns in the Concord shape. All Quartette pieces are glazed in one of four solid colors: Chartreuse, Mulberry, Copper Glow or Ming Green. The customer could buy a set in one of the colors, or could mix and match different colors. Quartette was the only Concord pattern with solid colored covers; all other Concord covers have a hand painted decoration. For example, the chartreuse beverage server base in your photo would go with several different Concord patterns, but the chartreuse cover makes this one Quartette. Value for a Quartette teapot or covered beverage server in excellent condition would be $50-80.
