Question:
Hi, I have a 12 piece setting of Spring Song plus, several serving pieces. They were bought in Wichita Kansas in about 1955 by my Mother. The are in excellent condition. Could you email me a ball park figure as to their value? Thank you, Karen
Answer: The Spring Song pattern was introduced in 1954 and discontinued in 1956. It is one of many patterns made in the Concord shape. A January 1954 price list includes Spring Song and states "Hollow ware is furnished in Honey Beige" — the color of your pieces. Spring Song hollow ware is also found in a robin’s egg blue color; apparently this color was added after the initial introduction of the pattern. While many Concord patterns shared hollow ware colors (metallic brown, chartreuse, gray, etc), Spring Song is unique in having two colors not shared with any other pattern.
As for value of your set, the photo definitely helps, but it’s difficult to see the pieces towards the back in the photo. I will assume they are basic place setting pieces and that all of your accessory pieces are grouped in the front. I’d estimate the retail value of this collection to be somewhere around $500, assuming excellent condition (no chips, nicks, cracks, hairlines, etc).
