Question:
I have a Brushware piece I recently got in an on-line auction. It is bottom marked "Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. Red Wing, Minn." inside a small blue circle. It has a few glaze pops but is not chipped or cracked. The vase stands about 6-3/4" tall and is just as wide. I have seen some green brushed items but this one is much more blue. It has a flower pattern on the exterior and has a shiney blue/green glaze on the interior. I would guess it to date to about 1930-1935 range predating the "Art Pottery" but don’t know much more than that. I paid $50.00 for it. Can you tell me anything abou it? Jon

Answer: Hi Jon, It’s shape #128, and you are correct, circa 1931. Your pic is real blue, I haven’t seen one quite this color before. There is a slight difference between the brushware glazes, but more toward the greenish blue. You did ok at the auction, value is 75.00 or so. thanks, steve n rose
