Question:
I recently had a friend tell me this jug could be worth quite a bit. It stands 10 1/2 " tall and 7 1/4" bottom diameter. Bottom says PAT JAN 24, 1899. Lid is Ball metal lid with rubber seal. Your thoughts? I believe print is dark blue not black.
Answer: What you have is a Red Wing stone mason jar. From the size you mention, I would guess it to be a 1 gallon. If in perfect condition (absolutely NO chips, cracks or hairlines) (don’t care how small either and to include under the lid), the value is between $800 & $900. This is if it is indeed a 1 gallon. If a half gallon the value would drop to $200 to $225. Al Kohlman
