Question:
I have a #12 Union Stoneware crock with the two leaves on it, and it does have a crack down the side and the crack goes almost halfway on the bottom. It is heavy. What can you tell me about it. Should I use it as a planter outside maybe? Thanks! Mary
Answer: Mary, you have a Minnesota Stoneware Company 12 gallon birch leave crock. It would have been manufactured between 1895 & 1906. With the damage, it would have little to no value, so go ahead and use it for a planter. They look great with flowers in them. Just be sure to bring it inside before winter or the wet soil will freeze and expand inside the crock and it will basically fall apart. Al Kohlman
