Question:
Can anyone tell us anything about a water fountain that we have had for many years? It came from the country school my husband attended in the 40′s.It says Waterbury (Minneapolis). It stands on tall metal legs, has a bubble-up,not spigot, dispenser. It has original lid…writing is kind of "blurry"….several gallons size, blue rings around it and the lid. Thanks! Sharon
Answer: Sharron, your Waterbury (Minneapolis) cooler is Red Wing (produced in the late 1920′s to early 1930′s). These Waterbury coolers were a commissioned item, so reading the oval, one may think they were not manufactured by Red Wing. I haven’t seen one for sale for some time now, but the last one I seen (without the lid in mint condition) went for $275. I think you can ad another $250 to $300 for the lid if it is free of all chips, cracks or hairlines. Al Kohlman
