Question:
I AM ASKING ABOUT THE PIECE THAT I HAVE PICTURED. IT IS A STONEWARE COOKIE JAR THAT MEASURES 8 INCHES TALL AND 8 INCHES ACROSS. IT IS BROWN CLAY WITH WHITE GLAZE INSIDE. THE BOTTOM IS UNGLAZED AND MARKED WITH AND INK STAMP "RED WING ART POTTERY" IN A CIRCLE. THIS IS STONEWARE AND NOT POTTERY. THE LID IS CRACKED. I FOUND THIS IN THE TEFFT BOOK ON PAGE 159 BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT IT. REGARDING AGE, VALUE AND ANY OTHER INFORMATION WOULD BE APPRECIATED. MANY THANKS, GARY TYRA

Answer: Gary, your Red Wing Cattail cookie jar falls right in the middle between stoneware & art pottery. The Cattail cookie jars were manufactured in the 1930′s. In mint condition they can sell in the range of $250. With the lid being cracked you will drop the value between $100 and $150 as a replacement lid is hard to come by. Al Kohlman
