Question:
I have a 3 gallon jar that says redwing on it. It is salt glaze on the bottom and brown on the top. It has a wire handle on the small opening on the top, but I have no lid. I believe it is a pickle jar of sort but am unsure. I am a new collector of crocks, etc. and am trying to identify this piece and get an idea of what it is worth. Thanks!

Answer: Your Red Wing 3 gallon packing jar (or apple sauce jar) came in 3 sizes. A 5, 3 & 2 gallon. In mint condition with lids and hardware, they carry a value around $300. Yours with out the lid and hardware would be about a $100. Al Kohlman
