Question:
Hello, my parents just bought this, they collect red wing and don’t have anything like this and the man they bought it from called a preserve jar and we were wondering if you could give us any other information about it and what its worth thank you!

Answer: Your parents jar is indeed a preserve jar. These jars were manufactured by every stoneware company in existence during the salt glaze days anywhere from 1880′s to 1900. They were used for storage of perishable fruits and jellies. Values will vary depending on condition and decoration. The staining on you parents preserve jar will hurt it’s value. $100 to $150.
