Question:
I have a very nice 4 gallon Red Wing crock. I believe that it may be a rare piece as the leaf is incorrectly stamped. I am just wondering what the value is. There are a few very tiny flake like chips on the bottom and there is a hair line crack in the front of it. Otherwise there is the #4 and the leaf on the front. Any information would be wonderful.

Answer: Your salt glaze crock with the up-turned leaf was produced by the North Star Stoneware Company in Red Wing Minnesota. These up-turned leafs are around and not to hard to find on the smaller crocks. With the damage described, the value would be in the range of $100 to $125. Al Kohlman
