Question:
Hi – I have a 20 gallon piece of Red Wing stoneware. I don’t have a picture, but will do my best to describe it. It is almost 21 inches high and about 19 inches across. It has a blue number 20 on it with the wing print beneath it, which is a rust/red color. Also, the oval manufacturer mark (from what I can tell from your information page) looks like the one that states it was made in the 1930′s. It has the original wood lid and the handles which are all in perfect shape. The piece itself is in great shape….no cracks, etc. I was just wondering about its worth/collectibility. Thank you so much – Theresa Morrow

Answer: Theresa, I am guessing the size of the wing on your 20 gallon Red Wing crock to be 4 1/2 inches long. If it is 6 inches long the value will be about $50 to $75 higher. Yours with the 4 1/2 inch wing in mint condition will have a value between $175 $200. Perfect markings, dark and clear will always demand a higher value. Al Kohlman
