Hello, Can you tell me if this is a North Star lid and anything else you may know about it? It is salt glazed on the top and the underside appears to be albany slip. Thanks.

Answer: Some collectors would tend to tell you that this is a North Star lid. However, I do not believe that it is. The North Star salt glaze lids that I know have the center of the lid covered in Albany slip with the star on the top of the button which you pick the lid up by. Either way the lid is very sharp and I would not hesitate to place it on one of my Red Wing Salt Glaze pieces. Very nice looking lid. Al Kohlman
