Question:
I have a Red Wing handled cooking pot with lid that I know nothing about. It is in great shape and the opening is about 6 1/2" in diameter and stands approx. 3 1/2" in height. No cracks, breaks or chips. Few flaws around the inner rim. In some light it looks to be a greenish color and in some a dark grey. I am looking for the age, proper name of stoneware, color and possibly a value. Actually, any info appreciated. Thanks in advance! Karen

Answer: The item in the photo is a casserole from the Greenwichstone dinnerware pattern. Greenwichstone was one of six patterns in the Ceramastone shape. The Ceramastone line was introduced in mid 1966 and was Red Wing’s final dinnerware line. Greenwichstone and the other Ceramastone patterns were made until Red Wing Potteries closed in mid 1967, thus it was made for only about a year. Casseroles were available in two sizes: 1.5 quart and 2.5 quart. Yours is the smaller size. The Greenwichstone brochure describes the color as "slate green". In excellent condition your casserole is worth $20-25. The rim flaws you mentioned would reduce the value somewhat.
