Question:
My 84 y/o Mother wants to downsize and was going to donate her set of china to the worn-a-bit sale at her Church. I noticed it’s the Red Wing Pottery 1941 Lexington pattern. It’s a full set for 8 with meat platter, serving bowls, salt and pepper shakers, sugar bowl wi cover, and gravy boat. If you could give me an estimate of it’s worth, maybe I can convince her not to "Give" it away. Thank you so much, Debbie Johnson

Answer: Lexington is not among the more valuable Red Wing dinnerware patterns. It was a popular pattern and sold well; supply exceeds demand today. It is also among Red Wing’s earliest hand painted patterns and many pieces found today are stained, crazed, chipped or have hairline cracks. Later patterns had improved glazes that were more resistant to crazing and staining. The term "full set" doesn’t really define a collection because it means different things to different people . A ballpark figure for the set you described would be $100 to $250 depending on the specific items included in the set. These values assume excellent condition. Any damage will reduce the value significantly.
