Question:
I have a piece of provincial ware I believe is from the 40′s it is un glazed # 129 marked on the pot and lid never used and in perfect condition. I was wondering if there are collectors that would like this piece and what would it be worth? Thank you Rick

Answer: I’m not certain of the identity of your item; a description or photo would have been helpful. In the 1940s Red Wing produced a bake set with bisque (unglazed) exteriors that were usually stamped on the side "Red Wing Provincial Ware" along with a 2 digit number. In the 1960s Red Wing introduced an updated version with similar shapes and colors. But the 1960s version had exteriors with a tan-colored glaze and the mark moved to the bottom rather than the side. The mark for the 1960s version was "RED WING USA" and a 3 digit number. The number "129" appears on the bottom side of the cover for the 3 quart casserole. The casserole itself is marked with the number "125". A three quart casserole with cover from the 1960s would be worth $15-25 in excellent condition. Neither the 1940s nor the 1960s version of this baking set attracts much interest from collectors so values are fairly low.
