Question:
I have a red wing pottery chef cookie jar that is about 40 years old. It has one inconspicuous chip that can really only been seen from underneath, but other than that it is in excellent condition. I know it was worth at least $50 about 10 years ago. How much would you say it is woth in todays market?
Answer: The Chef Pierre cookie jar was introduced in 1941 and made into the mid to late 1950s. With today’s economy the values for many collectibles is down, especially for items that are readily available. From the photo the color of your Chef jar appears to be beige with brown trim. A beige chef with a chip is probably not worth much more than $50 today. The significance of the chip could move the value up or down. The beige chef jar is quite common so the value is lower some of the other colors.
