In my Mother’s estate were several pieces of Red Wing Pottery in the "Ardennes" provincial pattern. They are in good condition, but I have no idea as to their possible value. Can you help me? Her collection is: 1 – 12" platter 2 – 10 1/4" plates 4 – 7 1/4" plates 1 – 6" plate 2 – 4 1/2" teacups 1 – 6" saucer 1 – 8" covered casserole, green exterior and handle with white interior. Lid is white with three dimensional green ivy on the lid. The casserole is in particularly good condition. I would appreciate any information you can give me. Thank you.

There are two versions of Ardennes. The pattern was originally introduced in 1941. At that time all pieces included the band of green leaves that is found on the plates. This version was discontinued in the mid 1940s. In 1949 Ardennes was reintroduced with some changes. Exteriors of items such as the casserole were a solid color, either forest green or dubonnet (maroon). Based on the description of your casserole, your Ardennes pieces are from the later version.

The following values for the later version of Ardennes assume excellent condition. Chips, cracks, hairlines, nicks, flakes and stains reduce the value significantly.
12" platter: $25-35
10" dinner plate: $15-20
6" and 7" plates: $10-12
Teacup: $5-10
Saucer: $5-10
Covered casserole: $30-40
