Question:
I have inherited a bowl from my mother in law that has Red Wing USA on the bottom. The bowl is approx. 12" in diameter, 5" tall with an uneven edge, two sides curve upwards. It it beige in color with darker brown specks in the glossy finish. The bowl is in new condition with no chips, stains, or marks of any kind. Does this piece have any collectible value? Thanks in advance for your time.

Answer:
This is a very common bowl made by the thousands in the late 1950s and 1960s. It doesn’t go with any particular dinnerware pattern; it was sold as a gift or novelty item. Because so many of these bowls were made and because it doesn’t belong to a particular dinnerware pattern, it has very little collector value. Shops will often ask around $50 for this bowl, but a more realistic value would be $10-20.
