Question:
I recieved this set as a house-warming gift – both pieces are in excellent condition and are marked redwing on the bottom. I’m hoping to identify the line in order to track down a sugar bowl to complete the set. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer:
Both the teapot and the creamer are from the Gypsy Trail line, a large and diverse group that includes several full dinnerware patterns as well as many individual stand-alone pieces. Red Wing intended these to be mixed and matched in whatever combination the consumer desired. The teapot doesn’t have a name; it is simply noted as #234 in the Gypsy Trail catalogs. It is a "stand alone" piece intended to be used by itself or mixed with other Gypsy Trail pieces

The creamer is from the Reed pattern. Reed is a full dinnerware patten with many matching pieces. The Reed sugar would be approximately the same size as the creamer with the same fluted or ribbed sides. The sugar has two vertical "ear" tab handles and usually does not have a cover. (A few were made with covers and they are quite rare.)

The Reed pattern includes teapots made in two sizes. The Reed teapot has the same fluted or ribbed sides as your creamer and would be a closer match for your creamer.
