Question:
I have a blue delta pattern pitcher w/lid. All that is stamped into the bottom is Red Wing USA. It stands about 10" tall and about 20" in diameter. It has a handle and spout, all is in excellent condition. Could you please provide any info. about this piece and value? Thank you.

Answer: Red Wing’s Delta Blue pattern was introduced in 1954 and discontinued January 1956. The short production period makes the pattern difficult to find today and it is highly prized by collectors. There are three Delta Blue pieces that would could be described as a pitcher w/lid: 8 cup coffee pot, 1 gallon coffee server, and 1 gallon coffee server with metal stand.

A height of 10" would fit either of the one gallon servers but the 20" diameter is not accurate. Most likely your piece is a one gallon coffee server. If so it would have either smooth sides if it was intended to stand alone or would have a round knob on each side if it was intended to rest on a metal stand. I’ve never seen one offered for sale, but I estimate the value of the stand-alone style with cover would be at least $200-300. The knobbed style would be worth about the same if accompanied by its metal stand or $150-200 without the stand. All values assume excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other damage.
