Question:
I have a set of 8 dinner plates, 8 bread N butter, and serving platter of Red Wing Capestrano dishes. What would these be worth approx. is this a rare pattern?

Answer: The Capistrano pattern is not rare. It sold very well for quite a few years, and maintains popularity with collectors today. Production began in 1953 and continued until at least 1962.

As is true for most dinnerware patterns, some Capistrano pieces are harder to find than others. Thus they are in greater demand and command higher prices. Generally these are accessory pieces such as the Capistrano soup tureen. Your dinner plates ($15 to $20 each), bread plates ($7 to $12 each) and platter ($25 to $30) are common pieces. The values given are retail prices for pieces in excellent condition.
